Science and society.

My insights about the 2025 National Science month Celebration, Science is always been the backbone in this era and this real the ISNHS is promoting an event with the them of ""Harnessing the Unknown: Powering the Future through Science and Innovation." its promoting scientific literacy. innovation, and critical thinking through activities and test and much more.

This month is special because of the activities and quizzes about SCIENCE. We can learn much for about our world here by attending what activities that this month has to offer.

Science and society will deepen their interdependence as societal challenges—from climate disruption and pandemics to food and water insecurity drive research priorities and shape innovation. Citizens and policymakers will play a more active role in funding and guiding scientific agendas, demanding technologies that promote equity, sustainability, and public well-being. Real-time data, advanced models, and transparent communication of uncertainty will become central to policymaking, while expanded citizen science initiatives and improved scientific literacy will empower communities to co-design solutions and hold institutions accountable.

At the same time, breakthroughs in fields like gene editing, artificial intelligence, and data analytics will require robust ethical frameworks and multi-stakeholder governance to ensure responsible innovation. Opportunities in open science, interdisciplinary convergence, and global collaboration promise to accelerate progress, but tensions around misinformation, geopolitical competition, and unequal access risk undermining trust and amplifying inequalities. Navigating this landscape will demand adaptive governance, ongoing public engagement, and sustained investment in both cutting-edge research and the societal capacity to steer it wisely.

Climate change and how Filipinos adapted.

The progressive change of the global temperature is getting quite alarming these days. Some days are unbearably hot and some days are unbearably cold, and the weather patterns are shifting slowly into abnormality

Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns on Earth. While these changes can occur naturally due to factors like volcanic eruptions or variations in solar energy, the current trend of rapid warming is largely driven by human activities—especially the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas. Though often used interchangeably, global warming specifically refers to the rise in Earth’s average surface temperature, while climate change encompasses a broader range of changes, including shifts in precipitation, sea level, and ecosystems.

Filipinos have shown remarkable resilience and innovation in facing the challenges of climate change. As one of the most climate-vulnerable countries in the world, the Philippines has implemented a mix of national policies, local initiatives, and community-based strategies to adapt and build resilience.

Climate change is primarily caused by human activities that increase greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, especially carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas. Deforestation worsens the problem by reducing Earth’s ability to absorb CO₂, while agriculture contributes methane and nitrous oxide through livestock and fertilizer use. Industrial processes and transportation also release significant emissions, and synthetic chemicals like CFCs trap heat for decades. Though natural factors like volcanic eruptions and solar changes play minor roles, the current rapid warming is overwhelmingly due to human influence, intensifying the greenhouse effect and disrupting global climate systems.

Intramurals experiece.

Intramurals 2025 was a laid-back experience for me, one that I spent mostly as a spectator and wanderer rather than an active participant. While many of my classmates were busy competing and cheering, I found myself watching them play Mobile Legends, a game that brought out their competitive spirit and teamwork. It was fun to see how seriously they took each match, strategizing and celebrating every win. Even though I wasn’t part of the action, observing their energy and enthusiasm gave me a glimpse into the excitement of the event.

Instead of joining any games or activities, I chose to stroll around the school grounds. The campus felt different during intramurals—more lively, colorful, and filled with laughter. Walking around gave me a chance to appreciate the atmosphere without the pressure of competition. I bumped into friends, watched other sports from a distance, and enjoyed the freedom of just being present. It was a refreshing break from the usual routine, even if I wasn’t directly involved.

Although I didn’t do much during intramurals, I still found value in the experience. Sometimes, just being there and soaking in the moment is enough. Watching others play, feeling the buzz of excitement, and enjoying the relaxed vibe of the school made it memorable in its own quiet way. Maybe next year I’ll join in more actively—but for 2025, I was content just being part of it from the sidelines.
